Harrods
Harrods is a widely known luxury department store located in Knightsbridge, London. Established in 1849, the store is renowned for its considered setting and an extensive range of luxury products, from designer fashion and accessories to premium homeware and gourmet food. Covering over one million square feet of retail space, it’s among the largest department stores in Europe. With its grand architecture and signature green and gold branding, Harrods is not just a shopping destination but a landmark in its own right.
When two established names like Tiffany & Co. and Harrods get together, you know something memorable is underway. The two giants teamed up to extend the façade activation. Harrods turned its well-known lights from amber to Tiffany Blue to welcome a new Tiffany department inside the store. This big moment also kicked off Tiffany’s 150th year in London. Michèle Victoria (M&V) was commissioned to document the activation in stills and moving image—with editorial restraint.
Content with restraint and intent
This once-in-a-lifetime activation coincided with the jewellery brand’s 150-year London anniversary, as well as the opening of their ’Vision & Virtuosity’ exhibition at the nearby Saatchi Gallery.
With the Brompton Road partially closed throughout the night to allow access to the 70-metre cranes that provided access to the upper reaches of the department store, Michèle Victoria (M&V) deployed stills, moving image, drone and time-lapse crews to get up close and personal with the 7,000+ lightbulbs of this façade. We documented a unique basket of content, showing the amazingly painstaking change from amber to Tiffany Blue, followed by the star-studded switch-on event.
